Fur Mom Life: Navigating Life With My Baby Yuki
I was always fond of cats since we literally grew up with them. We had siestas with them, watched television with them and witness them grow old and die after they reached their median life span.
We have adopted three cats in total at home. The two were adopted when our youngest sister was still a toddler and the other was adopted when we left home for college. After our latest adopted cat died, we never adopted kittens anymore. My mom and younger sister adopted a dog instead.
As someone who has lived with cats, I always had a bias with them as I find them sweeter than any other animals. They were affectionate and empathizing. They can recognize when you're feeling down and when you're happy. They would stay on your side when they feel like you need company. They just have that natural instinct within them.
Recently, I adopted my own cat, my first cat as an adult who's living alone. I always wanted to get one but, I've been travelling a lot and I don't have time take care of them. Although, I tried adopting a fish but I eventually lost due to lack of time, attention and care. Because of this, I refrained from adopting a cat as I might not have time to take care of it.
Then, I met a new friend who had a cat in his studio. Seeing his pet reignited my desire to adopt another cat. I mentioned that I had been considering bringing home a kitten from my sister's condo. He suggested that I also check out the pet store.
The following week, we visited Tiendesitas to look at kittens for adoption. That’s when a white Persian kitten immediately caught my eye. She was available for adoption at a highly discounted price, and a couple was already checking her out, holding her in their arms. Fortunately, they decided not to take her.
Seizing the opportunity, I picked her up while debating whether to take her home. With a little push from my friends, I finally decided to adopt her and got all her essentials.
Now, six days later, I’m happy to see her gradually building trust and settling into her new home.
